Circle Audio uses a no-nonsense approach to everything we
design and build. This approach was especially important with
our power cords because we understand that power transmission
is the very heart of any audio system. Our goal was to provide
audiophiles the best quality power transmission at a reasonable
price. Towards that end, we developed our Basic Power Cord.
At its core is a high-quality 10 AWG copper wire in a Litz-type
geometry that is fully shielded. The basic cord is terminated
with a Wattgate 5266i male plug and a Wattgate 320 IEC connector.
The cable assembly is covered with a braided PET monofilament
sleeving.
A major problem in audio system
environments is the generation or absorption of electromagnetic
interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RF).
Shielding power cable significantly reduces ambient EMI/RF
from entering the audio system through the power cord and
reduces any current-born artifact from being propagated. It
keeps the bad stuff out and the good stuff in.
People raved about our power cords, but asked for more. First,
they asked for an outlet box. The development of the outlet
box soon blossomed into a “no holds barred” power
conditioner and it quickly became our “pure power one”
power conditioner (see Power Conditioner page). The basic
cord has been voiced in a very synergistic manner with the
pure power one, with termination options selected as appropriate
for the gear in use, as the Silver Circle philosophy, manifest
in our complete power delivery system, is to provide clean
power with no dynamic limitations in a very cost-effective
manner for the discerning audiophile.
Next, people asked to have options with respect to the terminations
on our power cords. There are far too many combinations and
permutations of power connectors to address every one, but
the pricing table details most of the combinations available
to the discriminating audiophile.
The rationale behind using receptacles of different metals:
Different metals, folks have observed, have different sonic
signatures. It has also been observed that solid-state systems
tend to sound brighter than tube systems. Whether this is
reality or perception is immaterial. If a system sounds bright,
utilizing receptacles of copper, bronze, brass, or gold can
moderate the brightness. If system tends to have a pronounced
mid-range or sounds soft, using silver or rhodium-plated receptacles
can offset that and punch it up a bit. It’s sort of
metallurgical tone controls. Silver is extremely detailed
and quick - the best conductor. Brass and copper are more
laid back. The choices are yours to make. We would be glad
to assist you with that decision.
In Vade Forrester’s review of the April Music Stello
HP100 headphone amp on SoundStage!, he notes that using the
Silver circle Audio power cord, he was able to wring an extra
octave of bass from the AKG K501 headphones. “No kidding,
the bass extended at least an octave lower than I’ve
ever heard it, but retained typical AKG detail and tightness.”
Give one of our power cords a test drive. You may wring that
extra iota of performance from your system. We think it is
one of the most reasonably priced and most rewarding tweaks
you can treat your system to.
